Art therapy with older adults and Dementia
Art therapy has well documented benefits with older adults and those living with Dementia.
It can help older people because:
• It supports self-expression, mental health and emotional wellbeing
• It can help people to cope with fear, confusion, anxiety and depression, and to adjust to physical and cognitive changes
• It is not dependent on spoken language, therefore can significantly benefit those with impairments to verbal communication by enabling non-verbal expression.
