Personal Statement
Lucy Pashley, MA
Art Psychotherapist/Artist
Areas of special interest:
• Older adults, including physical and mental health such as dementia
• Palliative care/hospices
• Education – primary and secondary
• Children and young people
I am an art therapist and an artist, and I use my own experience of the creative process in my work with others. I aim to provide a calm and non-judgmental space, and I believe that art-making in a supported and therapeutic environment can have a positive, transformative impact on a person’s emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and sense of identity.
My particular areas of interest are working with children and older adults.
I work in hospital, hospice and care home environments with older adults who may be experiencing mental or physical illness including dementia, loss, significant change, or isolation.
I am experienced at working with children and adolescents, both individually and in groups, in educational and care settings. I have worked in primary and secondary schools and with a range of needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties, school avoidance, and experiences of bereavement, illness and abuse.
I am fully qualified as an art therapist (MA Art Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire) and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am also a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
