Personal Statement
Diana Chaccour Diaz, MA
Art Psychotherapist
Statement:
I am a fully qualified Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
I have experience working clinically with children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties. I have worked in a variety of settings including: inpatient and outpatient clinics, children and adolescent mental health (CAMHS), primary and secondary schools, women’s aids, community events and museums and galleries.
I currently work in an NHS early intervention and prevention service within schools and other educational environments. My practice involves offering mental health assessments as well as individual and group treatment to children and young people referred to the service. My clinical role also involves delivering training and offering consultation to educational staff, parents and other professionals working within the school environment.
My training was based on a psychodynamic approach informed by Jungian analytic psychology. I work flexibly, using a person-centered and integrative approach, drawing inspiration from a range of perspectives, focused on a strong therapeutic relationship and the development of self-awareness through the creative use of art.
I am also a qualified Museum Practitioner and I have delivered arts and health projects in cultural, educational and health settings in the UK and abroad for over 10 years.
