Personal Statement

Candy Keast MA
Art Psychotherapist

My Art Psychotherapy approach is psychodynamic and integrative, although I can offer more direction in themed group sessions. I endeavour to provide a safe confidential environment where art-making can occur and issues and concerns which may arise can be looked at.

My original training was at Goldsmiths University. Since then I have worked with children in Primary, Secondary and SEMH schools.

I have attended Children’s Accelerated Trauma Technique training. I have also attended
Mentalisation training and co-facilitated an Art-based Mentalisation group for young adults with Personality Disorder.

I have experience in a Tier 3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team and with an Adult NHS Psychological Services team.

I have recently started a monthly open Art Group  for people affected by cancer, which developed from my working as a Children’s Palliative Care nurse prior to training as an Art Psychotherapist and also experiencing the transformative power  which art-making can offer, seeing change in myself and others.

Art-making is a regular practice for me, gaining inspiration from imagination and nature.

I am based in Kent though am willing to travel.

I completed BAAT Supervision training in September 2020
